Project Description
The Fort Worth Country Day School asked us to work with their students to set up research for green roof systems as part of their Healthy Habitats grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. These systems work to educate students on how green roofs and all their components work, and act as proof of concept as a roofing option for future construction at FWCD. Prairie Designs came to FWCD and spent an afternoon with interested students and faculty identifying what they wanted to research, how it could be accomplished and what needed to be done to install such a research area. The solution is a series of four 4'x16' green roof modules a few feet off the ground. All have a standard plant palette, but with varying growth mediums and ground cover. With help from students, faculty and groundsman from FWCD, we installed the system less than a month later near the south entrance to the school.
