Project Description
Texas Christian University approached Prairie Designs with the goal of having a VIP suite at the PGA Crowne Plaza Invitational to showcase its sustainable research initiatives and entertain alumni and guests. The Green Pavilion is nothing short of breathtaking. It features 2 green roofs demonstrations, including one on the upper level viewing deck. The pavilion stood out in all the televised aerial views of the tournament, and attracted birds and butterflies that were not normally seen near the golf course. Prairie Designs collaborated with TCU faculty and students, NextEra Energy Resources, AndersonAnderson Architects, and Advantage Steel to create this project, which won the California's AIA Small Project award in 2009 (Called the "PGA Prairie Hopper").
