Project Description

The Botanical Research Institute of Texas' new headquarters building is currently under construction. The green roof on this building was based in largely after research conducted by Prairie Designs' founders, Jon Kinder and Dave Williams. The roof will feature native plant species pregrown in Rana Creek's Biotrays and shallow lightweight growth medium. Prairie Designs has also been working with TCU to assist BRIT in their development of education displays for the new building. The new BRIT headquarters is on track to be a LEED Gold certified facility from its green roof, and by implementing such measures as drought tolerant landscaping, energy conservation and stormwater mitigation plans. Balmori Associates from New York designed the roof and landscape. Photo courtesy of BRIT.
